Lot 648 Target Modified Springfield Model 1903 Bolt Action Rifle

Target Modified Springfield Model 1903 Bolt Action Rifle, #1478172, .30-06 cal., 31'' heavy barrel, blue finish, no sights. Bolt body and extractor have been polished bright. One-piece walnut checkered target stock with a Monte Carlo comb, cheekpiece, pistol grip, forend palm swell, sling swivels, and vented brown rubber Pachmayr recoil pad (in poor condition). Includes black oversized soft rifle case with lamb's wool type interior. Topped with a J.W. Fecker target scope with adjustable objective, #7265, with Unertl style two-point rear mount, single-point front mount (attachment screw is very hard to turn) and lens caps. Scope is not marked for magnification but has a .75'' tube, is 20.5'' long and it's lens are approx. .75'' in diameter. Optics are clear but the fine crosshair reticle has scattered build up on the crosshairs. Rifle is in overall fine condition as sporterized from its original military configuration. Receiver has begun to tone to a plum color patina. Barrel, floorplate, and trigger guard retain approx. 96%-97% blued finish. Stock shows scattered small scratches and light handling marks. Forend tip and pistol grip cap are ebony with white line spacers. Action is smooth but does bind slightly on the extractor body. Bore has light frosting throughout with well-defined riling. The receiver has been updated with the ''Hatcher Hole'', there is an additional hole just ahead of this. Est.: $600- $900. (Modern/PPT)
